Scientific direction - the development of fundamental ideas about the mechanisms of immune and nervous systems functional  integration in normal and pathological conditions;  experimental study and developing radically new treatment strategies of the neuroimmunopathological processes.

The main priority results, obtained in the laboratory:

          1) We have established the possibility and uncovered some mechanisms of action of cytokines, produced by immune cells, on the sensitive nerve endings; it revealed that immunegenesis is  accompanied by increasing of  the peripheral nerves axoplasmatic transport intensity, which opened up previously unknown the immune and nervous systems interaction channel (VV Abramov. The interaction of the immune and nervous systems. - Novosibirsk: Publishing house "Science" from 1988 to -164.  (in Russian).

        2) We demonstrated the ability of peripheral cytokines to accelerate the formation of conditioned reflexes in experimental animals, revealed the mechanisms underlying this ability, which was the starting point for the research processes of regulation of higher nervous activity on the part of the immune system  (Abramov VV, Khichenko VI, Liuboslavskaia PN, Safronova OG . Effect of T-activin on the formation of conditioned reflex and manifestations of unconditioned reflex of avoidance in August strain rats. // Biull. Eksp. Biol. Med. 1992.- V.113(4).- P.397-399 (in Russian);  VV Abramov. The integration of immune and nervous systems./ Novosibirsk, Nauka Publishers, Siberian, 1991. - 167 p. (in Russian).

       3) We established the mechanisms and patterns of immunoregulatory properties of the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system, which greatly added the knowledge on the regulation of functional activity of the immune system by the central nervous system (VV Abramov. Interaction between the immune and nervous systems. Novosibirsk, Nauka Publishers, Siberian, 1988. - 164 p (in Russian); Sorokin, OV Markova EV, Abramov VV, Kozlov VA.  The role of the autonomic nervous system in immune regulation in children // Neyroimmunologiya.- 2004.- V.2.- N. 1.- P. 45-48; Foundations of Neuroimmunology / Abramov VV et al - Moscow: Academy of Earth Sciences. Gold series of national scientific achievement, 2004.- 100 p (in Russian).

       4) We showed the ability of the central nervous system regulation of antigen-specific immune response by the RNAs from the immunized animal’s brain. (VV Abramov, VA Kozlov Antigen-specific immunoregulatory effect of RNA from brain of immunised animals ./ Neuropeptides and Immunopeptides: Messengers in a Neuroimmune Axis. Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, New York, 1990, p.367-368;  VV Abramov, VA Mordvinov, VA Kozlov. Effect of RNA of the brain of immunized mice by specific immune response // Reports of USSR Academy of Sciences, 1990.-V.311.-   N1.-P..243-245 (in Russian).

         5) We identified and characterized the relationship between the parameters of higher nervous activity and quantitative and functional parameters of the immune system in healthy donors; we have established the clinical and immunological features of immunopathological processes in humans associated with the peculiarities of higher nervous activity and the activity of the autonomic nervous system divisions, which proves the ability to search for new approaches to the diagnosis and therapy of these diseases. (VV Abramov, T. Abramova, VS Kozhevnikov, et al. Interdependence between the parameters of human immunity and higher nervous activity/ //Dokl. Biol. Sci. - 2000. - V. 371. - N 1-6. - P. 115-117 (in Russian); Abramov VV, Abramova TY, Egorov DN, Vardosanidze KV. Higher nervous activity and immunity. Novosibirsk. - 2001 . – 123 p. Guidelines at the level of the RF Ministry of Health . Novosibirsk. – 2004 (in Russian).

         6) We established proopiomelanokortin (POMK) gene expression in immune cells. (Foundations of Neuroimmunology / Abramov VV et al - Moscow: Academy of Earth Sciences. Gold series of   national scientific achievement, 2004.- 100 p (in Russian).

         7) We first demonstrated a new phenomenon of the directional changes in the parameters of exploratory behavior by the transplantation of immune cells with definite functional characteristics; we have established patterns of influence activation of cellular and humoral immune system on the behavioral  parameters, that reveals the mechanisms of immune regulation behaviors (both congenital and acquired in the course of individual experience) and proves the ability to search for new approaches to therapy psihoneyroimmunopatological states.         9) We have identified the opportunity and show correction mechanisms of immunological and behavioral disorders in chronic opioid dependence using transplantation of immune cells with certain functional characteristics  (Markova EV, Abramov VV.  Neuroimmunoregulation and new perspective in the correction of drug - induced behavior changes Building International Research: Emerging Trends and Pattern in drug Abuse Around the World Miami, Florida, 2003. - P. 45-47.34; Markova EV, Abramov VV, Starostina MV, Kozlov VA.  Influence of immune cells transplantation on behavioral and immunological parameters in animals with chronic morphine dependence. // Drug Addiction, 2006.- № 5.- S.27-31 (in Russian); Markova EV, Starostina MV.  Prospects of drug dependence immunotherapy / YM Ganeeva, TN Yusupova AN Garifzinoa etc. Actual problems of chemistry, biology and medicine. : monograph book 2.          10) We first identified the opportunity and show correction mechanisms of depressive and aggressive-like behaviors in animals by the transplantation of immune cells, treated in vitro with psychoactive drugs (Markova EV,  Knyazeva MA.  Effect of the  transplantation of splenocytes, treated with caffeine, on the behavior of experimental animals in the "open field" test // Herald of Ural Medical Academic nauki.- 2011.- № 2/1, (35) .- P. 36-37 (in Russian); Knyazheva MA, Ryzhikova SL, Ryabicheva TG, Markova EV.  Effect of transplantation of immune cells treated with caffeine on the parameters of the functional activity of the nervous system // Bulletin of the East-Siberian Scientific Center of the SB RAMS, 2012.- V. 3 (85), part 2.-P. 284-287(in Russian); Markova EV, Knyazheva MA.
